Summer by Adel J. Cardor

Oh summer, how I love your warm enclosure  How sad I will be when it is over  Seeing kids playing  Your days are never-ending....  Life without you would be such bore  In a classroom with your feet still, on the floor  I go to bed happy as can be  Another fun day tomorrow is guaranteed

A DAY FOR RAIN

A DAY FOR RAIN
And so the day came
My fate revealed
Humbled I was, as I mumbled ineffable words
For the confidence I had
Quickly and untimely crushed
I stood tall, previously I did
I had the poise it took
For I knew the stuff so well
Or so, I thought
For the battle I knew was hard
The mission not to be dallied with
For preparation was key
That without question I knew
For the key I forged myself
Cognizant of the enormity of the task
Prepared I was for this
Little I knew the ignominy
That calmly and frighteningly lain in wait
For another day has come
For me to taste again
The bitter, perhaps sour familiar taste of disappointment
That which I dread
For we have met before
An experience not to be forgotten
A memory hard to erase

What could I have done?
For I did my best
The best I could
The books I learnt, the time I spent, the effort infused
The candle I lit
Midnight as it was
Deep into the still cloudless night I labored
For I knew how hard
The exam could turn
The reward for success so great
As myself witnessed, not too long ago
But my luck shone not
My angel forsook
His duty so dear
Negligence of duty glaringly apparent
Landing me in such a plight
With none to support
A weight such as mine
When it falls so mightily
Who should I blame?
Here I sit
In a bed not mine
Borrowed a while for my sorrow
Hopefully it’s big; its sheets thick enough
To soak my tears aright
Like torrents will they pour
From the darkest depths they lurk
Soon to be unleashed
For this day was not foreseen
Deprecated as it was
But dreams, reality not they become
For fate has bilked my hopes
And so this day will be named; A day for rain
For the clouds gather
As though vultures they are
Ready to drench the crestfallen, as vultures the dead they devour

To whom shall I turn?
From whence cometh help, if not from my God
For him alone I seek
For his strength is infinite
His powers unfathomable
His mercy enduring
Truly, this is a day for rain
